7 Factors to Consider When Choosing the Right Cable

When it comes to selecting the right cable for your needs, there are several factors to consider. With so many options out there, it can be hard to know where to start. But fear not – we are here to help!

Here are 7 key factors to consider when selecting a cable:

1. Strain-relieving center

Make sure the center of the cable is filled with a proper core element to protect the braided structure and prevent the cores from wandering into the middle of the cable.

2. Strands optimised for movement

Choose a cable with strands that are optimised for movement to ensure the best bending resistance.

3. Core insulation

Insulation materials must be made so that they do not stick to one another within the cable. Look for cables that use high-quality, high-pressure-extruded PVC or TPE materials.

4. Core structure

The braided or layered structure must be formed around a strong, high tensile strength center with an optimised short pitch length. Look for cables that use at least 12 cores bundles or cores.

5. Inner jacket

An extruded inner jacket is used instead of low-cost non-woven fabric, filler, or tracer. This ensures that the stranded structure is efficiently held in the longitudinal direction.

6. Shielding

Choose a cable with a tightly braided shield to ensure the best EMC    protection and torsion protection effect on the stranded structure.

7. Outer jacket

Choose an external jacket made of PVC, PUR or TPE that is highly resistant to abrasion, without sticking, and highly flexible yet supportive.
